Sunyani Municipal Assembly, as pace-setters and initiators of the monthly clean-ups, in partnership with Municipal Security Council, organizes monthly clean up exercises which is actively participated by all Security Institutions in the Regional Capital as well as the Media and other organizations. .

The program normally starts at exactly 6.00am and close at 10.00am on first Saturdays of every month. Streets are swept, open spaces are cleared of weeds, drains are desilted and chocked culverts cleared to ensure free flow of storm water aimed at eliminating flooding in the event of heavy downpour.

Apart from churches and households who do the clean-up in their own premises, approximately Seven Hundred and Twenty (720) individuals are always assigned by the Municipal Assembly to execute the work.

There is always an assembly of participants where The Municipal Chief Executive, Municipal Environmental Health Analyst and other Officers from the Municipal Assembly take turns in addressing the participants.

The Municipal Chief Executive eventually thanks all who bought opportune time from their busy schedules and participated in the clean-up exercise. We always plead that the exercise should not be deemed to them as “one-time” show, that, they should come out in their numbers first Saturday of every month to help clean the city to ensure that Sunyani maintains its status as the cleanest city in Ghana
